Gerald Wayne Utsman, 81, of Bluff City, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 1, 2020, from Johnson City Medical Center, following a courageous battle with COVID-19. Gerald was born in Sullivan County to the late John and Ruby Utsman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sherman Utsman, Laymon Utsman and Cecil Utsman, and a sister, Dorothy Guinn.
Gerald was a mechanic and a member of Borderview Christian Church in Elizabethton. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend and will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nancy Utsman; two daughters, Janet Salyer and husband Stefan and Nikki Jamerson and husband Jody; a son, Roger Utsman and wife Jamie; his grandchildren, Daniel Salyer and wife Brittany, Tabitha Boone and husband Daniel, Alesha Hamilton and husband Hunter, Caleb Jamerson and wife Taylor, Colby Jamerson and Summer Jamerson; six great-grandchildren; one brother, John A. Utsman and wife Ann; a sister, Linda King and husband Dickey; and his friends, Jerry Morrell and Sandy and Randy Carrier. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Gerald Wayne Utsman will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 10, at East Tennessee Funeral Home and Cemetery in Blountville, Tenn., with Mr. Scott Fisher officiating. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Monday. The family requests that anyone attending the graveside service observe the mask mandate and social distancing guidelines. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Borderview Christian Church, 1338 Bristol Highway, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
