Glenda Kay Austin Putman, 63, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 10, 2020, at her residence. Glenda was born in Elizabethton to the late Joseph and Ruby Smith Austin.
Glenda had worked as a cardiac care nurse at Johnson City Medical Center and was of the Baptist faith. She loved to sing and had sang in a gospel quartet for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Greg Putman, of the home; one step-son, Frank Putman of Elizabethton; two step-grandchildren, Tate Putman and Ella Putman, both of Elizabethton; two step-children, Shane Williams and wife Jess and their children, Olivia and Hannah, all of Erwin, and Heather Harrison and husband Kenneth of Johnson City; three step-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Wilson of Elizabethton and Verna Stacks of North Carolina; and one brother, Joseph C. Austin Jr. of Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate Glenda’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 13, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Joseph C. Austin Jr. officiating. Music will be provided by Brian Keener. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter County is mandating that all citizens who live in or visit Carter County wear masks in public. In keeping in accordance with this mandate, all visitors to the visitation / funeral service are required to wear a mask / and or facial covering.
