The Elizabethton linksters took to the road for a three-team match with Daniel Boone and David Crockett with both the boys and girls teams coming away with second-place finishes on the afternoon.
On the boys’ side, the Cyclones fell three strokes shy to Boone as the ‘Blazers eeked out a 157-160 match win over Elizabethton. Crockett, meanwhile, finished 24 strokes off the pace rounding out the day with a team total 181.
Carson Peters of Elizabethton was the boys’ medalist finisher on the day wrapping up a nine-hole total of even-par golf with a 36.
Unfortunately for the Cyclones, no one else broke 40 and that allowed Boone to slip past as Aiden Hyder and John Hale both recorded a 37 to lead the ‘Blazers to the victory.
Padraig Murphy was four strokes behind Peters finishing with a 40 while Caleb Tipton totaled a 41.
Jacob Williams and Brayden Phillips finished with mirroring scores as each Cyclone golfer recorded a 43. Cooper Tipton’s 45 finished out the Cyclones scoring on the afternoon.
Seth Bible’s 41 led the third-place Crockett team.
In girls’ play, Boone received a great round of golf from Jenna Branum (39) and Elsi Lunsford (85) to outshoot the Lady Cyclones by 12 strokes, 85-97.
The Lady Cyclones managed to just slip past Crockett as the Lady Pioneers were two strokes behind Elizabethton with a 99.
Katelyn Kechter backed up a solid Monday performance with another good day on the course as she finished with a 48 for the afternoon. Gabby Miller also had a great day as she fired a round of 49 to make up the Lady Cyclones score.
Hannah McDonnell and Kylee Evans matched each other on the day as both Lady Cyclones finished the round with a 52.
Madison Day (47) and Aubri Burger (52) helped to make up the two-person team score for Crockett.
The Cyclones are scheduled to play against Science Hill on Friday at Johnson City Country Club.
