Elizabeth Christine Ballard

Elizabeth Christine Ballard, 80, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord and her family on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was a daughter of the late William and Dora Ballard and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Shorty Ballard; a brother-in-law, Jerry Elliott; and a nephew, Timothy Cornett.

Miss Ballard was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include three sisters, Judy Elliott of Hampton, Patsy Ballard of Elizabethton and Margaret Cornett and husband Rev. Jerry Cornett of Elizabethton; two brothers, Bill Ballard and wife Barbara of Roan Mountain and Mack Ballard and wife Corrine of Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Lynn Ballard of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, in the Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Cornett and Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be her Harmony Baptist Church Family, Wayne McClain, Smith Davenport and Bill Trivett. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday for the graveside service. Due to the COVID-19 health concerns, there will be no formal visitation. The family would like to express a special thank you to doctors and nurses at Sycamore Shoals Hospital ICU, the staff of Hermitage Health Center, and a niece, Amy Birchfield, for all the love and care shown to Miss Ballard and her family.
