MEMPHIS (AP) — A man who had been barricaded in a home in Tennessee was fatally shot when a SWAT team entered the house, authorities said Thursday.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was called in to help authorities in adjoining Fayette County after a man barricaded himself in a house overnight near Moscow.
Shelby County sheriff’s officials said on Twitter that a SWAT team entered the home and the man was fatally shot during an “armed confrontation” with deputies.
The man has not been identified and further details about the shooting were not immediately provided. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the state police agency, planned to have an update later Thursday, the agency said.
Moscow is located about 50 miles (80 kilometers) east of Memphis.
