It’s a day that many have been looking forward to for various reasons whether as a candidate to find out their fate or for voters to have a say who will be representing then at the local, state, and national level.
While many Carter Countians have already cast their vote with over 12,000 voters making their votes known during the early election period, others are traditional voters who wait to Election Day to make their vote known.
In 2016, a little over 16,000 voters cast ballots for a president and if that trend holds true, there won’t be too many left who made their way to the polls on Tuesday.
According to workers at various locations throughout the county, there were long lines before the doors opened at 8 a.m. as many voters attempted to vote before heading to work.
Several precincts were visited between 10 a.m. and 12 noon and for the most part only a scattering of voters were passing through the doors. It was expected that when voters got off work later in the afternoon that the lines would increase.
Stay with the Elizabethton Star to the final vote is counted for all election results!
