“I was really happy with our defense tonight. In the first two games, we
were just kind of going through the motions on defense. I challenged
them tonight to turn up the intensity, pressure the ball, and jump the
passing lanes,” said Coach James Pearson.

His Hunter Tigers allowed no points in the first quarter and only two at
halftime. Hunter went on to a 39-8 win over the Central Comets.

Katlyn Dugger burnt the nets for 13 points. Eight of the Tigers were in
the scoring column.

“Offensively, we got the ball to the basket and finished better
than we have been. We took good shots and shared the ball pretty well,”
Person added.

Emma Taylor, who scored eight points in the third, ignited a 16 point quarter,
Peyton Melton played a great defensive game.

Hunter’s only downfall of the night was from the charity stripe.

Pearson said, “The glaring weakness was our free-throw shooting. I think we
missed 17 free throws, which is inexcusable.

“Hopefully, they’ll gain confidence in their shots and start knocking them down
because free throws can win you games and lose you games.”

In the boy’s action, Hunter jumped out to a 24-4 lead as the game was
never close en-route to a 48-17 win.

It was the second for Coach Jeff Peters Hunter’s team, who is now 2-1.

Brynin Repass scored eight points in the first and 12 in the game to lead Hunter.
Conner Vines came off the bench to nail two three-pointers in the first half.

Peters’ second team played as much as he starters.

Rylan Crabtree, also from the bench, hit a three in the first. Vines finished the
game with eight points.

Central’s Sidney Hoilman had a good game for the Comets, blocking
11-shots and scoring nine points.

Matthew Murray pumped in six for Central.
