Science Hill brings out the brooms

Unaka head coach Aaron Dugger’s favorite Bible lesson must be David and Goliath.

This year he has played Kingsport, Sullivan Central, Mountain City, and
Science Hill, twice.

The ‘Toppers showed no pitty in winning Ken Cutlip’s 460 games, a new Johnson
City record surpassing George Pitts’ all-time 459 wins on the hill.

Every player for Science Hill scored en-route to an 82-25 whooping.

Unaka only hit nine baskets in the game, seven of them were three’s. The ‘Toppers
grabbed every rebound and was shooting on the other end of the floor in five to
six seconds.

Keynam Cutlip dunked the ball three times and scored 19-points to lead the Toppers.
They hit nine treys and were 7 of 15 from the free-throw line.

Unaka’s Joseph Slagle led in scoring with 12 points all three’s.

Landon Ramsey hit two baskets, and no other ranger scored more than
three points.

Science Hill ran out to a 26-10 lead, and by halftime, a 51-16 imported the slaughter rule.
In the second half, the clock runs continuously as the Rangers could only muster nine
points in both quarters.

Science Hill is now 11-2, while Unaka moves to 1-5.

The Lady ‘Toppers showed why they are one of the best teams in the
area with a 53-36 win over the Lady Rangers.

Only down 23-14 at the half, Coach Kenneth Chambers encouraged his girls to play a little
harder, but a 21-point third put the game out of reach.

Lydia Ramsey led the Rangers with 19 points, Macy Ensor followed with 12, all her points
were from the three-point range.

Nee Maupin led Science Hill with 12, Jasmin Myers followed with 10.

Coach Chambers said, “I think we played harder tonight and were making some progress.”
