BLUFF CITY – The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones seemed to have the perfect game plan heading into their showdown with the Sullivan East Lady Patriots in Three Rivers Conference play at the Dyer Dome.

Coach Lucas Andrews Lady Cyclones held the notoriously three-ball shooting Lady Patriots to only three treys on the night but couldn’t find enough points down the stretch to defeat the home-standing Lady Patriots falling 43-34.

The Lady Cyclones took control in the first half leading 12-7 at the first horn and 19-15 at the intermission.

Elizabethton was pounding the ball inside early to post Morgan Headrick and the senior was answering the call scoring nine points in the half to lead the Lady Cyclones.

Lina Lyon helped build the early lead scoring six points while Renna Lane, who was saddled in foul trouble early, pitched in with four points.

Jenna Hare was doing her share to keep East in the ball game as she accounted for 10 of the Lady Patriots 15 points in the half.

Hayley Grubb had three and Gracie Royston two for East.

East came out from the break and found their rhythm behind Hare who caught fire offensively hitting for 10 points in the third to match her first-half total to push the Lady Patriots out front, 31-27, heading to the fourth period.

With the game still in the balance, East outscored the Lady Cyclones 12-7 to seal the win down the stretch.

Hare finished with a game-high 24 points to lead the Lady Patriots to the win. Grubb added eight points.
