** LOVED HER CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN **
Ellen Marie Phillips Holtsclaw, 83, of Roan Mountain, was peacefully called home on February 8, 2021.
Ellen was born on January 27, 1938 in Knoxville, Tenn. She attended Bell House School, Park Junior High School and East High School. She was a Freewill Baptist who loved the Lord and gospel music.

While she excelled in the workplace, her family remembers her as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, actively supporting their academic and athletic endeavors, hobbies and activities.
Whether it was sharing valuable afternoons, summer vacation, learning from her in the kitchen, or inheriting her keen ability to be genuinely kind and caring in all aspects of life, her family knew within her was an unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Arietta Arrowood Phillips Fields; father, Avery Deadrick Phillips; stepfather, John Wesley Fields; brother, John Wesley Fields Jr.; sister, Marilyn Anne; and a daughter, Janet Marie Holtsclaw.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; brothers, Charles Howard Fields (Claudia) and Earl Fields of Knoxville; children, Ricky Holtsclaw, Michael Holtsclaw and Kenneth Holtsclaw of Roan Mountain; grandchildren, Wes Holtsclaw, Ashlee McKeehan, Carey Lynn Holtsclaw, Sarah Moore (Ryan) and Macala Caraway; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey Pike, Sophia Moore, Rhett Moore and Dallas Bell.
