Terry Lee Barnes, 60, Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born September 2, 1960 in St. Charles, Mo., to the late Raymond Ray and Blanche Geneva Barnes.
Terry was a graduate of Bulls Gap High School. He was a professional musician and song writer. Terry had the biggest smile anywhere. He loved to make people laugh. He was a firm believer in keeping things short and simple. He put his whole heart into his music. Terry had performed at the Grand Ole Opry and Dollywood and numerous other places.
He will be deeply missed by his fiancée Ginger Dreher, Ginger’s granddaughter, Hunter Jones, and their fur baby, “Lillie.” In the famous words of Terry Barnes “Jimmy Crack Corn”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Ray Barnes and Luther David Barnes.
Survivors include his sisters, Gale (Roy) Voiles and Marilyn (Ronald) Self; his sister-in-law, Debra Barnes; his fiancée Ginger Dreher; his special friends, Julie Williams, John Gabel, Grady and Cathy Johnson and Edison Wallin; and several nieces and nephews.
It was his wish to be cremated and no services are planned.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is serving the Barnes family.
