Unaka spanks North to stay unblemished

The Unaka Lady Rangers continued to swing a hot bat against the visiting Sullivan North Lady Raiders as head coach Kenneth Chambers team ran their record to 2-0 with a 13-2, five-inning affair at Ronnie Hicks Field.

Noelle Collins got the Lady Rangers rolling when she doubled in a run in the bottom of the first inning. Unaka continued to add to their lead in the second inning scoring three more runs with a two-RBI double off the bat of Sadie Shoun and an RBI single by Kendall Bare helped to grow the lead.

The Lady Rangers continued to push across runs in the fourth frame as Kylie Blevins, Lyndie Ramsey, Shoun, and Alana Parsons brought runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Shoun picked up the win from the pitching circle allowing three hits and two runs over four innings. Trinity Bowers threw one inning of relief out of the bullpen.

Unaka had 13 hits on the day led by Bowers’s 3-for-3 performance. Shoun, Ramsey, and Parsons also accounted for multiple hits in the contest.
