FROM STAFF REPORTS
After winning Monday’s game at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark over South, the Elizabethton Cyclones traveled to Kingsport on Tuesday looking to take a regular-season sweep over the South Rebels.

The Rebels were determined not to let that happen as they jumped out to a 2-1 lead after four innings of play before the Cyclones put together a nifty rally in the top of the fifth to score eight runs and fend off any thoughts of a Rebel uprising taking a 9-5 win and the sweep.

Elizabethton hit double digits in hits with 10 in the game as head coach Ryan Presnell’s team not only won the game in the scoring column but outhit the home team 10-6 to take the victory.

Jaden Anderson, Noah Rosato, and Elijah Birdsong logged two hits apiece in the contest with Birdsong tagging a double. Bryson Rollins, Gage Treadway, Ashton Wilson, and Cade Russell collected one hit each.

Birdsong also accounted for three RBI’s in the contest.

Treadway got the nod on the hill and worked five innings giving up five hits and two runs during his time while recording three strikeouts and six walks to pick up the win.

Rollins worked one-third of an inning, Wesley Shankles covered an inning, and Peyton Johnson worked two-thirds of an inning in relief work of Treadway.

Drew Hoover took the loss allowing six hits and six runs over four and one-third of an inning. Hoover struck out four Cyclone batters.

Offensively for South, Hoover was also the man of the day collecting two hits in four at-bats for the Rebels in the loss.

With the win, Elizabethton ran their overall record to 8-1 on the season.
