The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones picked up a key Three Rivers Conference road victory at Sullivan South on Thursday thanks to the arm and bat of Lady Cyclone Madisun Pritchard.

Pritchard ripped a two-run triple in the top of the first inning to score two runs and pitched a complete-game, one-hitter as Coach Ken Hardin’s team went on to defeat the Kingsport team 6-1.

With one out in the first, Mollie Johnson laced a single to get things going for the Lady Cyclones. Maddie O’Quinn followed Johnson with a single of her own to put Lady Cyclones at first and second base.

Pritchard then stepped to the dish and delivered her triple to score both runners for a quick 2-0 advantage. Pritchard was picked up by shortstop Ember Jensen who singled for the fourth straight Elizabethton hit and a 3-0 lead heading to the bottom of the inning.

South managed to slice one run of the lead in their portion of the first thanks to a walk, hit batter, and a sacrifice bunt which brought the lone run that was scored by South home.

Elizabethton tacked on two more runs in the top of the fourth inning again with one out as Kallista Deprimo doubled to left field. Cheyenne Poiroux’s single to center brought the speedy DePrimo home to make it a 4-1 game with Poiroux taking second base on the throw.

An Emma O’Quinn single advanced Poiroux to third and an RBI single by Maely Ingram scored Poiroux making it 5-1.

The Lady Cyclones added an insurance run in the top of the fifth inning.

Pritchard once again was in the mix as she roped a double to left field. Jensen collected another hit on a single advancing Pritchard to third base.

A fielder’s choice off the bat of DePrimo allowed Pritchard to come home for the score to give the game its final score, 6-1.

From the circle, Pritchard allowed the one run on one hit while whiffing eight Lady Rebel batters in the contest. She walked two.

Pritchard, Jensen, and Emma O’Quinn accounted for two hits apiece in an 11-hit Lady Cyclone attack. Ingram, Johnson, Maddie O’Quinn, DePrimo, and Poiroux collected one hit each.

The Lady Cyclone defense was solid as they didn’t commit an error in the contest.

With the win, the Lady Cyclones ran their season record to 15-5 overall.
