The Great American Cleanup / Earth Day / Trashercise Celebration on the Tweetsie Trail in Elizabethton was deemed a success by Keep Carter County Beautiful Chairman Ed Jordan as many volunteers came out early to spend time picking up trash along the Tweetsie Trail and getting some exercise in the process.
“Thank you to the great volunteers that showed up on a cool morning to make this event a success,” Jordan said. “A special thanks to our youngest volunteers and our Appalachian Paddling Enthusiast (APEs).
“We know there are plenty of things to do, but we are happy you chose to help out the community and make a difference.
“Thank you to the parents for educating our young citizens on the importance of supporting the community. I hope to see many of them over and over again, as they grow up making our planet a better place to live!”
