Carter County Sports Hall of Fame to induct a new class on June 26

The calendar is building toward another Carter County Sports Hall of
Fame induction.

This year’s banquet is scheduled for Saturday, June 26 at Tennessee
College of Applied Technology in Elizabethton.

Filling out the 2021 class are Scott Rider, Elizabethton football; Roy
Huskins, Elizabethton football; Danette Coffey, Elizabethton basketball;
Mark Schaff, Elizabethton football; Jimmy Ensor, EHS baseball/youth
coach; Justin Buckles, Unaka football; Bobbie Blevins-Frazier, Unaka
basketball; Javy “Junior” Taylor, Unaka athlete/coach; Dane Christman,
Cloudland football; Tara Hanson Worley, Cloudland basketball; Todd
Barnett, Cloudland athlete/coach; Kenneth Hayes, motorcycle racing/Happy
Valley baseball; Teddy McKeehan, Happy Valley athlete; Susan Cox Carter,
Happy Valley basketball; Kari Stout, Hampton/Milligan basketball;
Richard Hyder, Hampton basketball; Terry “Monk” Montgomery,
bodybuilding/Hampton football and track & field; Tim Chambers,
media/Hampton baseball and football; James Napier (class of 1951),

Happy Valley’s Van Maxwell has been chosen as this year’s honorary
inductee. Also, due to COVID-19 delays, several 2020 class members —
Willie Church, Harold Mains, Herb Arnett, Robert Heaton, Sonny Hale and
Sharon Hubbard — will be fully recognized at this year’s event.

The ceremony will be broken up into two sessions: the first beginning at
4 p.m. and the second at 6:30 pm.

Scheduled for the first session are Coffey, Napier, Hanson Worley,
Christman, Montgomery, McKeehan, Blevins-Frazier, Hayes, Mains, Church,
Hale, Arnett, Heaton, and Maxwell.

The later session consists of Huskins, Harris, Ensor, Schaff, Rider,
Stout, Cox Carter, Taylor, Buckles, Hyder, Hodge, Barnett, Chambers and
Hubbard.

Admission is $20 (meal included) per person, $15 for personal
presenters, past Carter Hall of Fame inductees, and children ages 5-13
(free for children under 5).
