Michael Andrew “Andy” Owens, 43, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, July 3, 2021.
Andy was of the Baptist faith. He graduated from Happy Valley High School and was employed at Advance Auto Parts for 16 years. He loved his job and was the most devoted son and brother. He always had a project going on and barely finished until he started another. Andy loved buying, trading and selling vehicles. He especially loved older model Volkswagens. Heaven gained an angel and his family lost a wonderful son, brother, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Florence and husband Fred Shouse, and Beatrice and husband Tommy Owens.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Jerry M. Owens and Marilyn Agnes Grindstaff, and two sisters, Angelia Bunten and Amanda E. Owens. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Michael Andrew “Andy” Owens will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, July 9, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Randy Lyons officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 6 and 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside service and committal will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, in the New Slagle Cemetery, Elizabethton, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be Tim Bunten, Daryl Greer, T.J. Bunten, Devan Burchfield, Michael Manning and Mike Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow employees from Advance Auto. Those who will be attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
