Ora Ervin “Jake” Salmons Jr., 54, Watauga, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born September 4, 1966 in Grundy, Va., but had lived in Tennessee since 1987.
Jake was a roofer. He loved to fish and hunt.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ora Ervin Salmons Sr., and a brother, Steven Salmons.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jackson Salmons; his mother, Jo Byers, Elizabethton; a sister, Lisa Hicks and husband Kenny, Johnson City; a brother, Michael Salmons, Johnson City; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 19, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Travis Constable officiating. Interment will follow in the Parks Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
