Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Beginning this football season, the Elizabethton Star will name one player from each school that we cover during Friday Night Lights to be the Star Player of the Week based on their performance during their team’s contest.
For Week One, here are the outstanding performers.

Cloudland
Seth Birchfield
The Highlanders senior running back had a great opening night against Jellico as he carried the ball nine times for 201 yards and four scores in Cloudland’s 42-7 victory to give first-year head coach Zac Benfield his first win at the helm.

Elizabethton
Bryson Rollins
The Cyclones took the inaugural Railroad Rumble behind senior quarterback Bryson Rollins who continued to add to his stellar career as Rollins completed 13-of-19 passes for 202 yards and three scores and added two more scores on the ground as he carried the pigskin 11 times for 86 yards.

The win marked 31 straight for the signal-caller and the fourth straight against Science Hill as the Cyclones won 34-15.

Hampton
Conor Jones
Hampton senior Conor Jones had a hand in two of the Bulldogs scores as he rushed for a touchdown and found receiver Grayson Young on a scoring toss as Hampton got off on the right foot against Pigeon Forge winning in a climactic finish 20-14.

Unaka
Jamol Blamo
The Rangers had several players who deserved to be recognized as the Star of the game against North Greene but this week’s winner came down to not only what he did on offense but on defense as well.

Unaka’s Jamol Blamo did it all for the Rangers as he carried the ball nine times for 148 yards and two scores and added a two-point conversion. On defense, Blamo was stellar as well where he recorded seven solo tackles, one assist, one tackle for loss, and one sack to gain the nod this week.

The Rangers won the game 42-0.
