Covered Bridge Days returns to Elizabethton this weekend, bringing live music, homemade arts and crafts, good food and good times for the community.

One of the best-known annual festivals in Carter County, Covered Bridge Days was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19. It returns on Friday and continues through Sunday, Sept. 26.

“First off, I want to say that our team has worked extremely hard putting this together, and that we appreciate every single department in Elizabethton helping us all come together and get the ball rolling on this,” said Mike Mains, director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Elizabethton.

The festival is slated to include many things for everyone wishing to attend to enjoy such as live music from some locally known bands, homemade arts and crafts for those attending to enjoy, activities for children, and plenty of delicious food from local food trucks and vendors.

“We have a great lineup of entertainment set for the event, starting at noon on Friday where all the food trucks and vendors will be set up as well, Mains said. “One highlight of the first day of the festival is a wonderful band by the name of Merle Monroe.”

Activities gear up in full force on Saturday. “Saturday brings with it a full day of activities with entertainment like dancers and bands that will be playing all day at the main stage,” Mains said. “There will be a block party going on that day as well, featuring a beer garden for those to enjoy. T.G. Sheppard will be performing the last act for us that night, followed by a firework show presented by Carter County Bank to end the night.

“The last day of the event, Sunday, will feature a gospel group at 4 p.m. and a praise band before them at 2 p.m.  Another thing we are doing on Sunday is the Children’s Business Fair, where those in attendance can come by and shop at their areas.”
