 Ruby Louise Johnson Whitehead, 82, Roan Mountain, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at her residence.  A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Carrick & Lucy Helen McCoury Johnson. She was retired from US Textile, Newland, North Carolina.  She loved to work crossword puzzles and go to yard sales.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Sam Whitehead who passed away March 9, 2016, by a son Kevin Whitehead who passed away March 17, 2021, and a sister Judy Lacy.  She was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church.

  Survivors include her children: Rita Tolley, Roan Mountain, Clifford Whitehead and companion Judy King, Hampton and Roger Whitehead and wife Margaret, Elizabethton.  Six Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  One Sister: Jodie Smith and husband Malcolm,  Roan Mountain and a brother: Rudy Johnson & wife Patricia, Elizabethton.  Several nieces & nephews.  Her special friends: Betty Street and Margaret Smith.

  Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Derrick Hughes officiating.  Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, in the Johnson-Roan View Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Saturday will be: Rusty Estep, Adam Johnson, Coby Tolley, Darren Lacy, Travis Whitehead and Joshua Ray.  The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Jamessia Harris at Roan Mountain Medical Center.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday prior to the service.  Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Saturday.  Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
