“Obviously during this time of year we have our pumpkins and our mums, but we also have our corn fodder shocks and a variety of apples that have been in for around two weeks now,” said Crystal Daugherty, owner.

Residents eager to welcome the change in season often come to Farmer John’s for all sorts of decorations. “Our fodder shocks are a very high selling item,” Daugherty said. “The same can be said for things like straw and pumpkins, as anything that is decorative is a big seller during the Fall.”

She said the season is “such a happy time for everyone,” adding “I enjoy all the colors and decorations that we are able to bring out during the Fall.”

The fresh food market tries to offer good deals on fall essentials, Daugherty said. “Our pumpkins are individually priced according to their size, or fodder is $5 per bundle stalk, and our straw is $6 per bundle.”

Farmer John’s Produce is located at 2100 West Elk Avenue in Elizabethton and is open from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.  Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
