Repairs will be made at Watauga Point Recreation Area and on Paint Creek Road near Dudley Falls this week and may continue into next week. Paint Creek Road and the Watauga Point lower parking lot will be closed starting today and may be open as soon as Friday.
“Closing Paint Creek Road and the Watauga Point parking lot will allow us to do repairs quickly and ensure visitor safety and access,” said Ford Baker, Civil Engineer Tech. “We anticipate all closures to be lifted no later than the end of next week.”
The lower parking lot and road will be closed at Watauga Point to allow shoreline stabilization and for staging and operation of equipment. The upper parking lot, pavilion, shady area, and bathrooms at Watauga Point Recreation Area will remain open. Watauga Point Recreation Area is located on the southern shore of Watauga Lake in Carter County.
