It’s been a rough year with many of our family and friends coping with loss and loneliness due to the COVID pandemic…but next Saturday is a time to celebrate.
The Bonnie Kate Theater will present the show ”Come As You Are” Saturday, Oct. 16. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and will continue until about 9:30 p.m. It will be a night of stories, music, and art.
Featured will be Storyteller Steven James, critically-acclaimed national bestselling author of 17 books. His work has been optioned by ABC Studios. His pulse-pounding thrillers are known for their intricate storylines and insightful explorations of good and evil. He brings to the stage equally enthralling stores.
The show also includes storyteller Catherine Yael Serota, a native of Asheville, N.C., who now lives in Flag Pond, Tenn. She shares with the audience the story of finding her Jewish origins when she was 53 years old. Serota describes her venture as “most interesting discovering who I really am.”
James and Serota will share the stage with a third storyteller — Wallace Shealy, who has been declared by the Storytelling Arts Center of the Southeast as the Bold-Faced Liars Champion. Shealy admits he does “embellish the truth slightly.”
In addition to the stories, the show will include singers, musicians and artists, who will tell their stories through art. The artists’ work is on display in the Bonnie Kate lobby.
Deborah Knapp will serve as emcee. Singers are Denessa Hensley and Andrea Hensley and band and music will also be presented by Scott Reynolds and Friends.
The show will also feature art show artists Judy Cable, Karen Hitchcock, and Judy Donley.
Special vocalist for the evening is Megan Taylor.
Judy Donley is show coordinator.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online.
