An Elizabethton man pleaded guilty in Carter County Monday to two counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of attempted aggravated sexual battery.

Brian Anthony Minnick had previously been charged with two counts of rape of a child and one count of aggravated rape of a child.

An investigation began in 2018 by the Elizabethton Police Department following a referral from the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.

According to an incident report, three juveniles identified Minnick as the perpetrator. Minnick babysat the children regularly, according to the incident report.

Minnick appeared in Carter County Circuit Court Monday before Judge Stacy Street. In addition to the prison sentence, Minnick was ordered to have community supervision for life.

In other cases heard Monday by Judge Street, Charles Ellery Richardson was sentenced to 15 years in prison on an aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault charge and a third charge of reckless endangerment. Also, Richardson will be unable to operate a vehicle.
