George Randell Smith, 82, of Hampton, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at his residence. George was born in Hampton to the late Clarence C. Smith and Mary L. Campbell Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael E. Smith and Gordon J. Smith, and two sisters, Dorothy Ramsey and Tafada Payne.
George retired from Hampton Utility District as a manager. He was an active member of Rittertown Baptist Church until his illness prevented it.
Those left to remember and cherish George’s memory include his wife, Pauline Honeycutt Smith, of the home; two daughters, Alesia Ramsey and husband Gerald of Hampton and Shona Smith and Rick, also of Hampton; two grandchildren, Shelbie Morgan and Seth Ramsey, both of Hampton; a sister-in-law, Shirley Smith of Hampton. Several nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors, and members of Rittertown Baptist Church also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of George Randell Smith will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 9, at Rittertown Baptist Church with Pastor Dean Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. A graveside service will follow in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joe Joe Campbell, Mark Payne, Mike Smith, Josh Smith, Ned Smith and Dylan Birchfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Smith, Tip Smith, Jerry Street and Lude Honeycutt. The family would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Toby Guinn, Dr. Kimmel and Dr. Alfred Earwood and their staffs for the love and exceptional care shown to George. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 822 Rittertown Road, Hampton, TN 37658 in George’s honor and memory.
