Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
Judy Mae Bowers, 76, Elizabethton, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness. She was born December 18, 1944 to the late Coolidge and Ethel Estep Bowers.
In earlier years, Judy was employed at the East Tennessee Chair Company. Later she was employed as a house keeper. She loved cleaning her house, watching Fox News and loved to listen to Southern Gospel Music. She was a member of East Side Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Shelia Payne and Darla Bowers.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Dewey Bowers; three children, Jeffrey (Barbara) Bowers and Pam (Bryon) Gouge, all of Elizabethton, and Tina (Bobby) Miller, Siloam, N.C.; five grandchildren, Jeff “Skeeter” Bowers, Megan Buckles, Lacey Pasquale, Erica Riggs and Daniel Miller; one great-granddaughter, Kelsey Pasquale; two brothers, Terry Bowers and Kelly (Lynn) Bowers; and two sisters, Kathy (Bill) Hyder and Debra Crouse. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, in the Bowers Cemetery (Roy Bowers Road) with her son-in-law, Bryon Gouge, officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hermitage Health Center for the excellent care she received during her stay there.
