Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. in Erwin has named Carter County native Ronald Dailey as its new president.
Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. is a subsidiary company of BWX Technologies that manufactures fuel materials for U.S. naval nuclear reactors which are used in submarines and aircraft carrier ships.
Dailey will lead more than 1,000 employees within the company to manufacture these materials, which is done by down-blending stockpiles of uranium from the Cold War era into a suitable material.
Dailey previously served as deputy general manager of Syncom Space Services (S3) at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, La., which focuses on testing, fabrication, and transport of NASA’s Space Launch System. Before that, he worked with S3 as engineering director for Nuclear Fuel Services.
“He has an in-depth knowledge about the important work that NFS performs, and his experience at Michoud will be highly valuable as NFS continues its work to support national security,” said BWX Technologies Nuclear Operations Group President Joel Duling.
Dailey graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He holds two patents regarding solids handling technology improvements and is a long-time member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Nuclear Society.
