Ivan “Sam” Carr, 78, of Bluff City, Tenn., passed away Monday, November 1, 2021, at Center on Aging and Health, Erwin, Tenn. He was born in Sullivan County to the late Frank Carr and Pearl Bullock Carr.
Sam was an avid NASCAR fan and loved watching Kyle Busch. He was a carpenter and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Sam was a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Lonnie Carr, Ralph Carr and W.J. Carr; four sisters, Edna Smith, Jean Perry, Pauline Campbell and Mollie Caldwell; and a nephew, Frankie Carr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Tim Carr and wife Melissa of Elizabethton and Paul Carr and wife Carrie of Sacramento, Calif.; three brothers, Bud Carr of Elizabethton, Terry Carr and Gary “Jim” Carr, both of Bluff City; five sisters, Velma Hicks and Betty Rutherford, both of Bluff City, Jewell Blevins, Joann Smith and Glennie Asher, all of Elizabethton; and one grandchild, Dylan Carr. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to say a special thank you to friends: the late Fred Lawry and family, the Barnett brothers, Les, Bob and William, and special caregivers, Joyce Stubbs and Patty Carpenter. Also, a special thank you to Ballad Hospice and all of Bluff City for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
