Mary Taylor, 67, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at her residence. Mary was born in Carter County to the late Billy Tipton and Louise O’Quinn.
Mary was a very family oriented, caring and devoted wife and mother. She was a faithful church member of Johnson City Free Will Baptist Church. Mary retired from Pine Ridge Nursing Home after 27 years of service in the housekeeping department, where she enjoyed helping people in the nursing home. She enjoyed crafting and making crafts for her friends and family.
Those left to cherish Mary’s many wonderful memories include her husband, James Taylor, of the home, and her sons, R.J. Clawson and wife Deana of Carter County, Thomas Clawson and wife Sheila of Elizabethton and Robert Clawson and wife Linda of Hampton. Eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 7, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Kenneth Davis and Pastor Matthew Guy officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The committal and entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be members of her church. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 861 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909 in memory of Mary. The family would like to especially thank Dawn of Avalon Hospice and Cathy, Carolyn and Ret for their exceptional care and compassion to Mary and her family.
