Last Saturday morning it was cold and foggy on the way up the mountain, it even snowed a little. That did not stop eight hearty volunteers from showing up and removing nine large bags of trash and one tire from the road side. A three plus mile of Ripshin Mountain Road is now trash and litter free.
If you ever want to go on a walk in fall to see the colors, this is the place to do it! This is definitely a great place to get out and enjoy nature.
Thank you so much to the Ripshin Mountain Community and Keep Carter County Beautiful for keeping this jewel beautiful for all of us. Benjamin Hall welcomed the volunteers to his home for a great BBQ lunch after the cleanup. Thank you Benjamin, the food was delicious. Benjamin also volunteered his time and truck to take the collected trash to the Elizabethton Landfill. Volunteers like this made the project a great success.
I hope to get back to this area in spring to remove trash from a dump site that is hard to access. If every community worked together like this one to keep litter off our roads and out of our waterways, imagine how wonderful our community would be.
