“The Addams Family,” a classic and well-known movie, has been adapted into a play produced by the Elizabethton High School Drama Department.
Students are excited about the opportunities ahead of opening night.
“I decided to audition for that role because of how eccentric and outgoing he is. I can relate to him because of how we both have very distinct personalities,” said Jakeb Hardin, who plays Gomez Addams.
Choreographed by senior Mia Garbe, dance has been widely incorporated throughout the musical.
“I wanted to help set up movement throughout the play,” Garbe said. “It was an amazing moment for me considering that I was able to teach others what I know.”
Garbe also embraced the role of Morticia by making the dances elegant yet fierce.
Along with Garbe and Hardin, other cast members spoke on what their experience was like as they rehearsed for opening night.
“Everything has its hectic moments, but in the end, we all know it will fall together perfectly,” said Camden Callahan. Adam Hughes said, “There is just always something fun going on. I think that is what makes this cast so special.”
Several other actors mentioned how they seemed like a family.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4 and 2:30 p.m on Dec. 5 at T.A. Dugger Junior High School.
