Verdie Mae Williams Pierce, 91, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at her residence. She was born April 6, 1930, to the late Willie Arthie Dinesmore Williams. She was a homemaker, in earlier years she was employed at South East Apparels. She loved to work in her garden, yard work and canning. She was a member of Nidiffer Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Wesley and Loyd Williams, a granddaughter: Tracy Pierce and a daughter-in-law: Lina Sue Pierce.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years: Martin Pierce, Jr., A Daughter: Brenda (Tommy Eugene) Campbell, Her Sons: Jerry (Jackie) Pierce, Michael (Lena Sue) Pierce, Randall Pierce and Eric Lynn (Rita) Pierce all of Elizabethton. Nine Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandson. Two Sisters: Christine Blevins and Naomi Richardson both of Elizabethton and Two Brothers: Lester Williams, Elizabethton and Kenneth (Joyce) Williams, Jonesborough. Several Nieces & Nephews.
Funeral Services was conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Justin Hodges officiating. Graveside Service and Interment were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active Pallbearers that assembled at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday was: Kevin Campbell, Jeremy Pierce, Brian Pierce, Justin Pierce, Eric Pierce, Josh Pierce, Marcus Campbell and Mason Pierce. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” Megan and Melissa of Amedisys Hospice for the excellent care she received. The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home prior to the service. Family and friends assembled at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
