Derrick Michael Odell Jr., 29, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born March 28, 1992 in Gainesville, Fla., but had lived most of his life in Carter County.
Derrick was employed by Color Works in the Dye House. He was a loving father, loved his work and loved going fishing.
Survivors include his fiancée, Autumn Williams; two children, Easton Odell and Zayne Williams-Odell; his mother and step-father, Debbie Lynn Silcox Betancoart and Roger Chitwood; his grandmother, Brenda; several brothers and sisters; three special uncles; and his special friends, Diane Williams and Jeff Williams.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, December 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Terry Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the Carter County Rescue Squad and Tammy Chambers and Rob Chambers.
