EHS wrestling hosts Tennessee High and Gibbs

Elizabethton vs. Gibbs
Isaiah King of EHS faced off against Porter Finsted in the 120 weight class with a match that was fast-paced yet lasted 3 rounds. Due to an injury to King, Finsted walked away with a win scoring six points for Gibbs.

In the 126 weight class, Elizabethton’s Gabe Miller went up against Brady Smith. Smith quickly got 10 points in the first round while holding Miller to only three. In the second round Miller seemed to run out of stamina with Smith using the advantage to add seven more points with Miller only scoring one as Smith came out on top.

Moving to the 132 weight class, Roman Shelby of EHS faced Tommy Thompson. Shelby started slowly only scoring a point compared to Thompson’s five in the first. Shelby turned things around when he scored seven on Thompson, keeping him to only four points in the second. Shelby pinned Thompson 30 seconds into the second period taking the win for Elizabethton.

Elizabethton’s Harrison Lane faced Zach Lawson in the 160 weight class as Lane’s physicality earned him four points in the first compared to Lawson’s one point. Lawson responded, putting up three in the second with Lane held scoreless. Lawson performed a take down on Lane but Lane escaped and Lawson didn’t let up as he quickly pinned Lane 24 seconds into the third.

In the 285 weight class, Trenton Taylor of EHS faced Landon Brooks. This was a slower-paced match, with Taylor scoring two in the first as Brooks was scoreless. In the second, Brooks put up one point, but in the third Brooks pinned Taylor making him the winner of this match.

Gibbs took a 77 to 26 victory against EHS.

Elizabethton vs Tennessee High

Only two matches were held between EHS and Tennessee High.

Gabe Miller faced Eli Moore in the 126 weight class one of which was a balanced match as both Miller and Moore scored two points in the first. In the second Moore outscored Miller 8-4, giving him the win.

In the 160 weight class, Harrison Lane went up against Ethan Ball. Lane quickly gained four points in the first with Ball only scoring one. The second period was more balanced with Lane and Ball scoring four apiece. In the third Lane went scoreless with Ball scoring two as Ball walked away with a win.
