James Lynn “Doodle” Cox, 39, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021. He was born April 16, 1982.
Doodle was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was a construction worker at A & E Roofing. He loved to play the guitar, fishing and singing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Coty Cox.
Survivors include his children, Austin Kelley, Katlyn Stines and Alyssa Benfield; his father, Joe Cox; his mother, Pamela Crowe Day; his brothers, Aaron Cox, Adam Cox, Avery Cox and Calab; his sisters, Bonnie Cox and Brittany Cox; and his maternal grandfather, James Darrell Crowe, Hawthorne, Fla. Several nieces and nephews and several special aunts and uncles also survive.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayden Davis, Ron Walker, John Dugger, Adam Birchfield, Victor Humphrey and Mike Lyons.
