Bulldog trey’s lead the way over South Greene… Lady ‘Dogs fall to Lady Rebel late run

Sparked by a 26-point third quarter – led by four trey’s from senior Michael Harrison – Hampton upended South Greene 78-58 on Tuesday at Van Huss / White gymnasium. In all the Bulldogs connected on nine three-pointers led by Dalton Holtsclaw who dropped in five trey’s and led all scorers with 19 points.
“These guys have good chemistry together,” Bulldogs head coach Ned Smith said. “They like each other, they share the ball well and they all play good defense. Harrison got hot there and Dalton hit five out of six three’s. Isaiah (McCoury) had nine assists and Hayden Campbell led us in rebounds. He rebounded the ball well.”
The Bulldogs (10-4 overall) led 23-17 after one period and held a 35-29 halftime advantage before erupting in the third period. Harrison nailed four consecutive three-balls in the stanza – scoring all 14 of his points in the period – as Hampton outscored the Rebels 26-15 to take a comfortable 61-44 lead into the fourth quarter.
The ‘Dogs defense forced 18 turnovers from the Rebels – turning many of these into points – and shot an incredible 31-of-55 from the floor overall (56.3 percent) including 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) from beyond the arc.
Clint Lamb and Chandler Fillers scored 13 points each to lead South Greene with Luke Myers adding 12. For Hampton, Caden Buckles had 11 and post Conor Burleson added nine.

The Lady Bulldogs held a 25-24 halftime lead then fell into disarray and a failure to score as the Lady Rebels pulled away in the second half led by post Addison Williams who scored 22 points.
Hampton showed solid defense in the first half forcing 10 South Greene turnovers but couldn’t continue the momentum in the second half being outscored 34-12 in the second half.
The Lady ‘Dogs shot just two-of-19 (10.5 percent) from the floor in the third period, including 0-of-6 from distance as South Greene began to build a solid lead.
Using the ‘Dogs lack of scoring the Lady Rebels took a 44-30 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Williams was a force in the third quarter scoring 10 points with Emma Cutshall adding five more including a trey. Cutshall scored 12 points to back Williams and Hailey Brooks added nine for South Greene.
For Hampton, Macy Henry and post Taylor Berry each scored a team-high 10 points with Linzy Jenkins adding a quiet six points.
