On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, took the hand of his Lord and Savior to join his family before him. Born on May 15, 1944, Floyd Dale Lambert was the youngest son of three born to the late Arthur Isaac Lambert and Ethel Lona Dugger Lambert. Floyd was also preceded in death by his brothers, Troy Jackson Lambert (and wife Arbeulah) and Edward “Booge” Lambert, and his special friends, Charles and Peggy Henson.
Growing up in the Poga Community, farming was a way of life and Floyd excelled at growing gardens and raising livestock. Floyd was not afraid of hard work and that love for farming led to his owning and operating, along with his wife and children, Lambert’s Produce. The market was a place where you could buy good, fresh produce but moreover it was a place you could share a laugh, a smile and gain friendship. Many of those friendships lasted Floyd and Oma’s entire lives.
Floyd was a Christian man, growing up in the Piney Grove Church of Christ in Poga, a place he returned every year for the annual homecoming to catch up with his kin folk. He attended many other churches when he moved to Valley Forge and always kept God in his life and in the lives of his family.
Floyd leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Oma Lee Guy Lambert, of the home; his four children, Carolyn Guy of Elizabethton, Karlas (Joy) Lambert of Hampton, Nola Gay Dugger (Martha Childers) of Elizabethton, and Teresa (Tim) Julian of Hampton; his grandchildren, Crystal and Lacey Dugger, Autumn Julian, Josh (April) Guy, Tosha (Joe) Hatley, and Amy (Brooks) Furches; his great-grandchildren, Ryan and Laura Guy, Cassandra and Parker Hatley, Cody Dugger, Alisha Dugger, Mattie Perry and Jayden Perry; and a special sister-in-law, Blanche Lambert Williams. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends and extended family also survive.
A home going celebration of Floyd’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 10, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Pastor Bryan Miller and Pastor Matthew Guy officiating. Music will be provided by The of Sounds of Victory. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from noon until 2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Flat Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Cable, Steve Hillman, Scott Lambert, Tim Julian and John L. McKinney. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Signature Health and Rehab Center in Elizabethton for the love, care and support shown to Floyd and his family during his stay with them and a special friend, Dennis Guy.
