NASHVILLE — State Sen. Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City), who serves Unicoi, Washington, and Carter counties, has been invited to attend this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to receive the American Conservative Union Award for his conservative voting record.

In addition to organizing CPAC, the American Conservative Union advocates for conservative policies, ranks politicians based on their level of conservatism, and focuses on protecting constitutional rights.

“I am proud to receive this award,” Crowe said. “It is my belief that the Constitution of the United States is the best political charter yet created by men for governing themselves, and that it is designed to guarantee the free exercise of inherent rights of the individual through strictly limiting the power of government.”

Lt. Gov. Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge) said:

“Rusty Crowe is the kind of strong conservative leader Tennesseans need right now. Sen. Crowe has been nicknamed ‘The Rock’ by his colleagues for his steadfast conservative stance on the issues important to his constituents.

“When the COVID-19 crisis and the economic disruption associated with it began, many states were left scrambling. But due to the steadfast leadership of Rusty Crowe, Tennessee was ready. Rusty helped make sure Tennessee’s budget was structurally balanced and that we had a rainy-day savings account that remained fully funded. Due to that work, Tennessee has remained safe and a leader in the nation.”
