Instead of looking like a pack of bulldogs, the Hampton Bulldogs resembled a pack of Greyhounds against the visiting Cloudland Highlanders at VanHuss-White Gym.
Running out to a 43-12 halftime lead, Hampton went on to defeat the Highlanders 78-22 in Watauga Valley action.
Try as they may, Cloudland couldn’t find a way to stop the Bulldog attack as Hampton was hitting on the inside and outside the entire contest.
Cadon Buckles scored all 13 of his points in the first half to push the ‘Dogs out front. Logan Whitehead was just a step behind as he scored 12 in the first half.
Morgan Lyons chipped in seven points. Michael Harrison, Isaiah McCoury, and Dalton Holtsclaw each connected on a trey apiece while Conor Burleson added a deuce.
Dylan Shell led the ‘Landers with five points in the first half while Caden Clark scored four and Caleb Slider three.
Hampton kept up the offensive tenacity in the second half as head coach Ned Smith was able to go deep on his bench to close out the game.
One of those bench players took full advantage of his time as Brody Hicks continued to light up the scoreboard as he knocked down 12 points in the second half. Chance Point also registered six points in his time on the court.
