Investigation ongoing in VIP Road shooting

A man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times by an unidentified gunman in his home on Wednesday.
The incident took place at about 9 p.m. at 106 VIP Road.
According to information from Elizabethton Police, the Carter County Sheriff’s Department and the police were dispatched to the residence, where they found Kyle Thompson, age 30, suffering from multiple gunshots.
The investigation revealed that an unknown male suspect had entered the residence with a firearm and shots were fired striking the victim. The suspect is described as a white male, thin build, and wearing a ski mask, according to the report.
According to the to report, there is no indication of an ongoing threat due to this incident as the investigation continues and the suspect remains unidentified at this time.
The police are asking that anyone with information regarding the case contact the Elizabethton Police Department Criminal Investigations Division or submit an anonymous tip through the Tip411 line by texting TIPEPD and the tip to 847411.
