Arlie Vernon Cole, 93, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at his residence. He was born April 21, 1928 in Elizabethton to the late Flossie Cole Grindstaff.
Arlie was retired from Freemons in Torrance, Calif., after 30 years of service. He was a member of Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church but attended Willow Springs Baptist Church. His hobbies were singing, collecting toys, traveling, and in earlier years, square dancing.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Cole.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Taylor Cole; three sons, Lloyd of Arkansas, Jimmy of Maine and Barney Taylor and wife Beverly of Ohio; two daughters, Marlena of Wisconsin and Priscila Davis and husband Ed of Elizabethton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter and caregiver, Heather; a special great-granddaughter, Matti; and one brother, Obie of Texas.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 12, in the Kress Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Heaton and the Rev. Chris Hughes officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home from 1 until 5 p.m. Friday or Saturday morning until 12 noon. Family will not be present. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Saturday. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Megan and Chris with Amedisys Hospice.
