Farris Orlean Whitehead Nave, 82, Elizabethton, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was born in the Tiger Valley Community on November 30, 1939. She was a wonderful daughter to the late Carmen and Bonnie Oxendine Whitehead.
Farris was the world’s best caretaker, baby sitter and homemaker. She loved to work with her hands in the garden and flowers and loved to can her vegetables. She was of the Free Will Baptist Faith and attended Sunset Free Will Baptist Church, when she was well.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Nave; a daughter, Melissa Richardson; and a sister, Wilma Jean Lewis.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Whitson and husband Brad; two grandchildren, Rachel Beth Richardson Laws and Nathan Whitson and wife Laura; her sweet great-grandchildren, Brianna Jenkins and husband Dustin and Bryson Laws; one sister, Janice Sue Bowen; her son-in-law, Rev. Terry Richardson; her special companion, “Molly”; and her special friends, Dean Guinn, Linda Roberts, Barbara Hardin, Lillie Mae Stevens and Mary Forbes.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Farris Nave will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Richardson officiating. Music will be provided by Jason Gouge and Vanessa Cox. Interment will follow in the McKinney Cemetery, Long Hollow. Active pallbearers will be James Bowen, Jeffery Bowen, Elijah Smith, Jason Gouge, Gabe Gouge, Danny Cox, Chris Fuller, Jeff Smith and Nathaniel Whitson. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Glen Johnson, Richard Pete Johnson, Duane Forbes, Wes Forbes, Ray Doc Oxendine, Hassell Oxendine and Tommy Lewis. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sunset Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 6676 Highway 19E, Roan Mountain, TN 37687. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Bremer and his staff and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
