Local giving circle, 100+ Tri-Cities Women Who Care, has announced Crossroads Medical Mission, Operation: Johnson Kitty, and Recovery Soldiers Ministries as the nominees for the 13th Big Give which is underway now.
Nominees for the Big Give were randomly selected from nonprofits that were submitted by giving circle members. Each nominee recorded a short presentation about their organization which members review and then vote to select the recipient of the Big Give. The dozen prior nonprofit recipients have all received at least $10,000 to further their mission.
Each nominated nonprofit serves the local community in a unique way.
Crossroads Medical Mission delivers quality preventative and urgent care in a well-equipped mobile unit to people in need throughout the Mountain Empire regardless of race, creed, color, sex, religious affiliate or ability to pay.
Operation: Johnson Kitty catches feral cats using humane traps and transports them to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, given a rabies vaccine and pain medication, and returned to their original location.
Recover Soldiers Ministries provides a faith-based recovery program that promotes spiritual development through practical biblical teaching and comprehensive life skills that release them from the bondage of addiction.
The giving circle will host its first live event in two years on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Watauga Brewing Company, 142 West Market Street in Johnson City.
The recipient of the 13th Big Give will be announced at the event.  Any female interested in learning more about the giving circle is invited to attend.
Guests will be able to mingle with giving circle members while enjoying hors d’oeuvres in the private dining area and on the rooftop bar.  The cost is $15, payable in advance and reservations are required.
A cash bar will also be available. Guests may RSVP via the voting form on the giving circle’s website, tricitieswomenwhocare.com.
The giving circle is always looking for new members. Women who join via the group’s website by noon on April 25 may vote for the 13th Big Give recipient.
Giving circle founder, Becca Davis, said, “We’re seeking new members so that we can continue to meet our giving goal. We’re a fun group of women who enjoy supporting nonprofits in our community so we can make our region a better place for everyone. Join us!”
Since its inception in 2019, the giving circle and its foundation partner have invested approximately $170,000 in our community. The 14th Big Give is scheduled for September 2022.
