After taking their lumps from Sullivan East, the Elizabethton Cyclones bounced back with an Upper Lakes Conference win over Volunteer.
Riding a five-run explosion in the fifth inning, the Cyclones went on to win 9-2.
Peyton Johnson (single), Gage Treadway (double), Ethan Meier (double), and Cade Russell (groundout) had RBI’s in the frame.
Wesley Shankles was the pitcher of record for the Cyclones pitching a complete game allowing the two runs on five hits while fanning six Falcon batters.
Johnson finished with a 3-for-4 afternoon at the plate for Elizabethton including a triple. Kaleb Hambrick, Shankles, and Hayden Nave had the other hits for the Cyclones on the day.

With the game standing at 6-1 in the top of the third with Mitchell County leading, the Bulldogs erupted for seven runs in the frame to take the two-run lead to go on and win the game by an 8-6 score.
Morgan Lyons picked up the win from the pitcher’s mound as the senior shut down Mitchell Co. in his one inning of work allowing no runs on no hits while striking out one batter and walking one.
Chance Point earned the save by tossing one inning of baseball for the Bulldogs.
Conor Jones led Hampton at the plate going 2-for-2 on the day with three stolen bases. The Bulldogs only had four hits in the game but made the most of them as Point collected a double and Collin Eller added a base knock.
Hampton swiped eight bases in the contest.

The Jr. Cyclones suffered a tough loss to Ross Robinson on the last play of the contest as T.A. Dugger was leading 8-7 in the bottom of the sixth over the Jr. Warriors when a walk-off hit scored two runs for the home team to hand TAD a heartbreaking loss.
Trailing 7-5 entering the top of the fifth inning, when TAD batters Rhett Slagle and Justin Whitehead worked back-to-back walks. With two outs, Slagle and Whitehead moved up a base on a wild pitch.
With Caleb Waters batting, Slagle took advantage of another wild pitch to score with Whitehead moving up a base as well to third. Waters drew a walk and Evan Chambers singled to score Whitehead making it a 7-7 contest.
The Jr. Cyclones took the lead in the top of the sixth when JD Hooks drew a one-out walk. Slagle followed with a single pushing Hooks to second base.
A ground ball by Whitehead couldn’t be handled as Hooks raced in for the score to give TAD the 8-7 lead.
However, with two outs Robinson pulled the rabbit out of the hat for the victory.
