Elizabethton woman arrested on stolen vehicle charge in Johnson City

An Elizabethton woman was arrested on Tuesday by the Johnson City Police Department while driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

JCPD arrested 40-year-old Rebecca Richardson and charged her with motor vehicle theft (over $1,000), driving on a revoked license (third offense), and improper display of registration.

According to police reports, Richardson was observed at 9:21 p.m. traveling south on North Roan Street at North Commerce driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen. Officers conducted a traffic stop and found Richardson to be the driver.

An investigation revealed that Richardson’s driving privileges were revoked and the expiration decal that was displayed on the license plate was registered to a different vehicle.

Richardson was placed under arrest for motor vehicle theft (over $1,000), driving on a revoked license (third offense), and improper display of registration.

She was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where she is being held in lieu of a $6,000 bond. Arraignment was set for May 10 in Washington County Sessions Court.
