Washington County Criminal Investigations Division has arrested Steve Hard, 48, Jonesborough, after an investigation into a burglary that occurred last week on Cherokee Road.

According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, a homeowner on Cherokee Road was alerted by a security system on his phone of suspicious activity. The homeowner was able to access security cameras and observed someone force entry into his home and begin ransacking the residence. The homeowner immediately contacted a neighbor who saw the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. After obtaining a description from witnesses, and reviewing security footage, Investigators were able to identify Hardin as the suspect.

Earlier today, investigators attempted to make contact with Hardin at an address on Dry Creek Road. It was learned that Hardin had been outside doing yard work, but fled the scene just before officers arrived. Investigators used K9 Sgt. Ricco and tracked Hardin to a nearby wooded area.
