Tai Chi & Qigong on stage at Anderson Community Park, Roan Mountain (behind the post office), from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Beginning classes with Master Carol Ann Mitchell. Excellent for your physical, mental and emotional health.

• Friday, July 1
The Firefly 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by Main Street Elizabethton, is scheduled for 8 p.m. in downtown Elizabethton. The second annual event is an evening run/walk starting and ending in the Covered Bridge Park and will benefit Main Street Elizabethton and Downtown Elizabethton revitalization efforts. The course will also include part of the Tweetsie Trail, the segment of the trail along the old Stateline Road and back to S. Pine St., to E. F St., Armed Forces Drive, Sycamore St., Riverside Drive and back to the Covered Bridge. Already, 155 athletes have registered for the event.

• Saturday, July 2
The Roan Mountain Spring Concert Series will feature JP Mathis and Fiddling Leona from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Anderson Community Park (behind the post office) in Roan Mountain. JP and Leona have toured internationally including the Grand Ole Opry. Their stage show is a mix of original music, some classic favorites, amazing violin and knee slappin’ humor. You won’t want to miss this show. Bring a lawn chair, spread a blanket, pack a picnic. Please come and enjoy an evening on the Roan.
Boozy Creek Community Center, 1989 Shelleys Road, Bristol, Va., will hold a Fish and Chicken Fry at 4 p.m. In addition to fish and chicken, the meal will include lots of fantastic sides, a large variety of desserts, and drinks. Music will be provided by “State Line” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. For more information, call (423) 323-5266. Note: An “Elvis Extravaganza” is planned for Saturday, July 16. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with show to begin at 7 p.m. Hotdogs with homemade chili, chips and drink will be available for purchase. Additional information will be provided at a later date.

The Rasnick Family Reunion will be held at Biltmore Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. Please bring covered dishes and desserts. Drinks and other supplies will be furnished. Any questions, call W.C. at 423-512-1300.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton. Weigh-in begins at 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. The James Taylor Montgomery Family Reunion will be held at the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church in The Forge, 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton. Those attending will gather at 12 noon.
