Lydia Taylor of Emory & Henry softball named to the VaSID All-State First Team

ANNANDALE, Va. – Freshman shortstop Lydia Taylor (Salem, Va.) of the Emory & Henry College Softball Team has added another honor to her resume, as she was named to the All-State First Team by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. It is the sixth year in a row that Emory & Henry has been represented on the all-state squads.
Taylor was previously selected to the NFCA Division II All-Southeast Region Team and was tabbed a Division II National Freshman of the Year finalist by the NFCA. Additionally, she was chosen to the D2CCA’s All-Southeast Region Second Team.
NCAA Division III National Champion Christopher Newport University swept the major awards as Kaitlyn Hasty was named State Player of the Year. Jamie Martin was chosen as both the State Pitcher of the Year and the State Rookie of the Year. Keith Parr was honored as State Coach of the Year.
VaSID, founded in 1983, names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all sports information professionals working at a university or conference in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
