The Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce hosted a joint ribbon cutting with Main Street Elizabethton on Thursday, June 30, at 10 a.m. to celebrate August Muse and Appalachian Irish Dance Company.

“The community has five dance studios; numerous music and art teachers; local school music, art and theater programs; a new local theater group; as well as many professional performing and visual artists. It can be difficult to find resources nearby to support the student or the teacher or the creator. August Muse will connect these rich Arts traditions with the local community. Inside you will find artists gallery space, instrumental supplies, dancewear, and so much more. August Muse will serve the community by connecting visual, performing and teaching artists with local individuals, families, and visitors,” said owner Paula Augustine.

“Appalachian Irish Dance Company is thrilled to be open in their new studio home in downtown Elizabethton. It was the goal to find a space in the vibrant and growing environment that is our beautiful downtown. We’re looking forward to being an active community member and giving back through classes and performances,” said owner Kim Mullenix. Appalachian Irish Dance Company offers traditional Irish dance lessons for ages 3 through adult, and classes are held in the evenings Monday-Thursday.
